Not a comedy
Definitely not a comedy. There is not one funny moment. This is a crime thriller with a sci fi twist. But even then it is somewhat slow. Usually crime thrillers attempt to keep you on the edge of your seat. This movie does not. It is not interested in plot twists or interesting reveals. Str8 out the gate you know this guy puts things up his butt and they disappear. You might think you are going into the movie wondering HOW, or WHY. Or even what happens when things go up his butt. But that is not the case. What you get is a slow burn that dives into the concepts of obsessive compulsiveness and how it can cause a bored socipath in a humdrum life to all of a sudden go from IT professional to child killer after a rude prostate examination (if you can call being put up someone’s butt being “killed”)

It is a good movie, but a very slow burn. The actors are okay for their part. I couldn’t get over the paint used on the cop’s beard… it sparkles in the light from the metals in the paint lol. Horrible makeup, except on the guy’s butt…. they did a good job with that. The score is beautiful… it makes the slow tense moments actually bearable, otherwise it would be too slow to handle. I think the filmmakers needed to pad some run time with some slow motion. Which is odd because they had plenty to work with for extra scenes: the wife’s “friends” that she hung out with when the tv controller disappeared, the relationship between the main character and his boss, more character development with the cop, and even an explanation of who is the black guy that appears at the end of the movie with the woman at the hospital.

Overall this was a great concept with an okay execution. Many may judge this movie on the fact that it is a movie about a butt pirate, but there is some value in this movie as a look at obsessive compulsive behavior of a sociopathic killer.

I give it 6/10, but it would have been a 5/10 if it wasn’t for the score.

A weird and wild ride
This is a slow-burn, stone-faced, and truly strange film, so don’t go into it expecting a slapstick horror-comedy.

It’s an indie film, with a low budget, and weird pacing (sometimes huge time gaps between scenes).

If you like really weird stuff, you should watch this.

I spent a lot of the film wondering if it would be worth it and worried that it wouldn’t deliver, butt it’s definitely worth it. I wish it had been a little faster or shorter or more interesting during chunks, butt it was still a great experience.

It has really similar vibes to Bug with Michael Shannon.

I wouldn’t recommend this to most people, butt this is *definitely* a film for those who like bizarre experiences and can stick with the slow pacing.
