Reviews:

Everything you can expect from a “Mission: Impossible” movie. The script is not the brightest nor the freshest but works OK. Cruise, Pegg and Rhames keep the franchise afloat while Renner and Baldwin feel unneeded.

Great addition with Ferguson. She takes most of the attention in this movie.

Good work from the direction.

So after all that, I’m pretty convinced that the _Mission: Impossible_ series just isn’t for me. That being said, how many film franchises can say that their fifth instalment was also their best? Probably just this one, and, maybe _Fast & Furious_. There’s actually a lot of parallels between those two lines of movies.

Pertaining specifically to _Mission: Impossible_ though, this one truly is the best of the bunch in my opinion. It has it’s most complete female role to date, in fact, you could say that of any character. This is the first film that doesn’t feel like it entirely hinges on Ethan Hunt’s input. The characters surrounding him are actual people with their own personalities and ideas. And maybe it’s just that I’ve watched him do it five times in the past three days, but honestly I even sort of bought Tom Cruise in an action role this time around.

Crazy.

_Final rating:★★½ – Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole._

Very Average Spy Movie but Still Very Well Presented
I went into this movie with some expectations. Having not seen any of the others, but hearing very good things about this one, I was curious as to what to expect. I’m happy to say that it was fairly impressive.

The plot of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is one that clearly has been being developed in the previous movies. However, it wasn’t hard to understand the plot, despite not seeing the previous four movies. It feel like a continuation but it’s still capable of standing on its own. For the most part the plot is done quite well, but I felt like a lot of it was implied more than it was actually explained. Maybe I should have seen the previous movies to understand, but I’ve had this same problem with a lot of other spy movies.

The characters aren’t anything special. Very averagely developed.

The movie as a whole is very average. The sequence of events is one we’ve all seen before, so you never feel particularly tense because the end result is fairly obvious. However, the movie is paced very well, and the formula itself is overshadowed by how well done the movie is. The fights are great, the spy technology is cool. There is a lot of greatness in this movie, so it’s very easy to overlook the formulaic sequence of events.

Overall Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation is a very well done spy movie. While I think some plot points should have been explained a bit better, it’s done very well. I’ll certainly be seeing this again, and who knows? Maybe I’ll increase my rating. In the end I’d certainly recommend this movie to anyone, especially people who like spy movies like this.

Very entertaining…
Great action flick with great writing that doesn’t require time jumps to create tension in a linear very entertaining movie. The pace is perfect and there is not a boring moment.

At the same time, some of the missions are either a bit too ridiculous even for MI standards (the one involving water) or have parts of them that are a bit too ridiculous or forced (a lot of predicting how the villains would react for them to work); we have more of the same “Deux Ex Machina” typical of the franchise; the characters remains thin; the lack of emotion hurted the twists and turns.

But for fans of the franchise, there is a big chance this one could be the best one yet.
