Hoped for so much more.
I found this film frustrating as I expected a lot more. Had Hitchcock directed it, then in my opinion it would have been a great watch. The chemistry between the main leading actors was poor, and the script offered little, except to confuse the viewer. Unlike the classic Rebecca film, this was dull, slow, and complex, all because the longer it went on the less you cared.

Beautiful photography and quality actors are not enough to entertain , and in my opinion this film was such a disappointment. The director might have checked out other films on books by the author, and then no doubt made a far better job of this story.

Panoramic camera shots do not a story make
Oh Dear! This story has much potential and many opportunities to depict themes not often seen… BUT, oh my! How could this be such a miss! Frankly, it doesn’t matter which actors are in the various roles, there just isn’t enough plot development, suitable dialogue, other voiced ‘direction’ or, God forbid, CONTENT, to warrant taking your brain to the cinema. We’re not reading the damn book whilst looking at the bl**dy pictures, f-f-s, as that seems to be the effect we’re left with. Read along and look at the lovely pictures…Nah, my imagination is better than that, yours is too. This seascape of imagery is just a big wasted opportunity not worth leaving your easy chair for.
