People walking on the seawall in the background
Did none of you watch this on anything larger that an iPhone? The water scenes of the “floating” villages was shot in Houts Bay, south Africa. And in those scenes you can see the water breaking over the dock/seawall in the bay. This is supposed to be out in the middle of the deep ocean and the water is really about 6 foot deep. Notice how the anchoring ropes are almost horizontal indicating shallow water versus hanging straight down like an anchor in deep water. Of course in several scenes near the end you can actually see people (not in the movie) walking along the seawall in the deep background. Either they are walking on water or, most likely, the seawall. Hilarious. Then there’s another scene where another boat motors by in the background. I won’t even comment about the flying sharks as that was kind of expected.

Better than others, but still boring.
Planet of the sharks is about how planet Earth has become flooded all over the globe with no land. Scientists have invented this chemical which , when launched, will create land. I did find some parts of this film exciting, but mainly it was only average. Again its the sharks that don’t look real whats so ever. The acting was pretty good. There’s one woman who went really over the top (the woman in charge of one of the floating villages – can’t remember her name) she was extremely irritating and I was really put off her performance; mainly when she and her men were stabbing the sharks; it was so irritating! The other actors in this film were pretty good. I warmed up to a few of them and it was sad when bad things happened that effected them as a character. The film also did drag from time to time, like building this rocket thing was dragged way to long which kind of made you forget the whole plot. They talk about building it and given the go ahead ; they kept dragging it and when they did launch this damn thing, the ending was pretty cool.

Positives: Likeable characters, Action sequences were entertaining, Plot was creative and the story line was quick to pick up and not get lost throughout, Most of the actors did a good job with their character performances.

Negatives: Sharks roar and were unrealistic, very boring dragged out scenes in some parts, queen of the floating village was extremely annoying; didn’t like her at all (performance kind of ruined it for me). 3/10
