With this journey, Snoop intends to reincarnate himself as a Pop Reggae artist by immersing himself in Rastafari, exploring musical and religious histories deeply rooted in Jamaica. His pilgrimage begins with a jaunt to a mountain-side ganja farm run by Rastas, revealing the underbelly of the Jamaican drug market. Snoop then heads down to the troubled areas of Trenchtown and Tivoli Gardens; revealing a neglected ghetto population and rampant police brutality following the exile of drug lord Chris “Coke” Dudus. Snoop also stops by the famous Alpha Boys School for an impromptu jam session. A school which has seen countless Reggae musicians pass through its youth orchestra. Snoop allows unprecedented access to his inner-workings as he makes his new album with Diplo and Angela Hunte, author of the smash hit song Empire State Of Mind. He candidly speaks about the death of his best friend, Nate Dogg and the influence this has had on the tone of his new album; moving away from the superficial and towards a lyrical manifestation of peace, love, and hardships. Snoop also discusses his newly mended relationship with his wife and college sweetheart Shante. His journey culminates in a visit to Bob Marley’s Rasta temple, inhabited by the Nyabinghi Rastas. Snoop is reincarnated with the the same name Nyabinghi bestowed upon Bob Marley; forever solidifying Snoops embodiment of the legionary Jamaican artist and his connection to the Rastafarian community. He leaves behind his days as a Gangsta Rapper and reemerges as an avatar for peace. This is not a Cheech & Chong movie in Jamaica; it’s an intimate, expositional portrayal of the life and times of a conflicted artist striving for light and mental emancipation in a world of darkness..
Plot: Evolution as an artist is often times what separates legends from the more mundane. After being heavily influenced by his experience in Jamaica – and his subsequent name change from Snoop Dogg to Snoop Lion – the LBC showman prepares his latest reggae-infused album Reincarnated. As part of the process, VICE followed Snoop to the island nation as he recorded various songs with backing from Diplo, Ariel Reichtshaid and Dre Skull of Major Lazer. Having grown tired of what rap provided him, the documentary reveals the rebirth and inspiration for his latest project.

Berhane is looking for inspiration while smoking a weed
Berhane — is a Snoop Dogg’s new name. One of The Wailers named him Snoop Lion though. Which one is soundable — choose.

Berhane is a rap icon. He has made bucks of money making music, and selling drugs. Earlier of his life, I think. I wasn’t born in Ghetto, I had very normal childhood with in very normal neighborhood, and all what I was saying in my review — is just another opinion.

I think, if one wants to understand Snoop Dogg is to have the same experience he had been going through which I never did. In other words, my opinion is biased here.

“Reincarnated” — a huge commercial to expand “smoke every day” culture to every places it’s possible to get into all over the Earth. If jokes aside, Snoop Lion is doing another album to find his “truth” while making some music united with Vice Inc. to record the process. Of course, smoking some weed in the first place, Jamaica.

There were some unique moments in the movie though. There were some words worth to hear, video tapes worth to see, and Snoop Dogg is a long term showman pimping in every corner of the rap culture to make some show out of his ordinary days.

Now, Snoop wants to be a Jamaican and go into its roots as the greatest of all Marley did almost a half century ago. Was it successful? You can go to Netflix and make your own choice — below is mine.

Not at all.

Rap and Reggae are totally different genres I believe. Snoop Dogg didn’t think so. It’s up to him. I cannot convince musician of that size as Snoop to hear my voice, it’s pointless thing to do.

In Jamaica, people are smoking everywhere. The documentary is how to smoke a weed, believe me. How to grow the herbs, where to grow them, and how to smoke them.

Re-watching by mistake…
The theme didn’t please me, it was uninteresting, I didn’t get over it… (2016 I gave 6.0) Everything in life is a matter of time, re-watching by mistake, and I enjoyed a sincere documentary that touches the wounds of Snoop Dog, as in the loss of friends, the murder charge and the time when he was a pimp, maybe, now because he knew a little of his works, the documentary made sense to me… (2020, covid, 7.5)
