Synopsis

Watch: The Hills Have Eyes 2006 123movies, Full Movie Online – While celebrating their 30th wedding anniversary, a couple are traveling through the desert with their 3 children, son in law and their baby granddaughter. While the rest of the family agrees there are plenty of better and more appropriate things to do to celebrate an anniversary, they make do with what they have, but things take a turn after a sketchy gas station attendant informs them about a “short cut” that will take them in between a series of hills in the desert. It doesn’t take too long before they realize they’re not alone and the hills indeed do have eyes..
Plot: Based on Wes Craven’s 1977 suspenseful cult classic, The Hills Have Eyes is the story of a family road trip that goes terrifyingly awry when the travelers become stranded in a government atomic zone. Miles from nowhere, the Carter family soon realizes the seemingly uninhabited wasteland is actually the breeding ground of a blood-thirsty mutant family…and they are the prey.

Reviews:

Aside from some pretty significant plausibility issues, this is actually quite a decent shock horror. A family stop off at gas station where the elderly attendant tells them of a dirt track shortcut across the desert that will save them a few hours. Towing their caravan, off they go, but when a puncture causes them to lose control and crash into a big rock, they begin to realise that they are not the only folks nearby – and I use the term “folks” loosely. What now follows sees our travellers terrorised by some hideously mutated people who had been left there ever since the US Government carried out nuclear tests. Reduced to just 3, “Big Bob” (Ted Levine) and his faithful hound have to track down his kidnapped baby grandchild – a perilous journey indeed. Now quite why they decided to take the shortcut is just one of a few dodgy decision taken by the “Carter” family that made me wonder, and rendered the plot increasingly silly as we progress to an ending that seems to drag on a bit too long. That said, there are plenty of jump moments and Alexandre Aja manages to keep the annoyingly screaming hysteria to a minimum. Once it eventually gets going, it becomes decently paced and the photography is tightly cut to maximise the impact of some pretty gruesome scenarios (and prosthetics!). Though not as gritty as the 1977 original, I think it’s still just as good.

One of the best horror remakes to come out in this most recent trend. Rather than ignoring its source material, or taking the other extreme of drearily rehashing it scene for scene, Aja and Levasseur’s _The Hills Have Eyes_ simply expands and improves upon the original.

_Final rating:★★★★ – Very strong appeal. A personal favourite._

Excellent Survival Horror Film
I haven’t seen the original, but I now want to because this movie rocked. The movie starts as a slow-boil suspense/horror movie, provides some decent jump-scares (at least in the theater) and spends some time building up character. The movie then switches gears and turns into a gritty, brutal horror movie more the likes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and further switches to gears to a action/revenge movie, but still with horror elements. It’s scary, sick, nearly uncompromising (the unrated cut will undoubtedly be so) and disturbing, but also adrenaline-filled and riveting. Certainly NOT for the weak-stomached person. People were leaving the theater, and the IMDb boards are rife with people damning the movie for it’s ‘lack of moral substance’ and ‘taste’. This movie isn’t for the average movie-goer. It’s for the horror buffs. Alexendre Aja should be proud, and is 2-for-2 in my book having done this and High Tension.

Just watched
I watched the original as a kid it was one of my favorites. The first thing that pisssed me off was WHY are they listening the guy at the gas station about the short cut!!?? In the og the guy says stay on the highway and they make the stupid decision to not. In this one they make the stupid decision to listen to him so either way lol…they stayed pretty close to the original glad they didn’t kill off the baby or the other dog & had original survivors I was watching with my husband tho who wasn’t sure who was to survive. Except Ruby but I haven’t seen part 2 yet? Yes it was violent a few parts hard to watch. Gonna watch part 2, I know it won’t be as good just like the in the originals but will watch. RIP Wes Craven!
