First of all, the acting in this film is still pretty good. For some of the characters, they started to become for like real people, again I would love to give an example but I forgot all about this film. I don’t know how this is possible but the writing got worse in this film. Some of the lines contradicted each other like one writer wrote one version of the script and then left and another had to pick it up and didn’t read the first half. One thing that bugged me was the transitions in this film. They were all over the place and pretty much none of them were smooth. In one scene you’ll see them having fun and then all of a sudden transition to a guy at a laptop. Once again the scenery looked stunning and you can see all the detail they put into every scene. The costumes looked terrific once again for each character. At some points, the outfits didn’t suit the character, unlike the last film. There is a subplot in this film that takes over the film until the end of this film. This bugged me because the trailer showed me something different then what I got and the original storyline was already interesting. You would think they would have learned their lesson about pacing from the last movie and they didn’t and made it worse. It was a mixture of writing and the subplot that took over. The beginning felt to slow and then the last fifteen minutes felt way too quick. Finally, the relationship in the film made me want to break them up. The creators gave me nothing in this film to make me want to root for them. In the end, this film is once again mainly for people who love RomComs but I still wouldn’t recommend it for them. I give A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding a 5/10.
Decent watch, probably won’t watch again, but can recommend.
This is mostly her being uncomfortable with the necessary formalities of being a celebrity / royalty.
It’s a lot like “Princess Diaries 2” where she’s very clearly going to become queen, despite her discomforts with it.
In the theme of family togetherness, they double down, bringing in her friends, and his relatives to come together and deal with a national fiscal crisis.
I can’t say it’s as good as the first one, but if you liked the first one, then go ahead and give this a watch.
2 stars for Rose McIver, that’s it as she was the only good thing about this dumpster fire.
OK The first one was not that great, but well.. It was a typical been done 20 times better already unoriginal type fair, but it was still OK I guess. This garbage takes a dump all over it.
They took Amber’s father from the first movie who was a good kind smart strong guy and replaced him with an unfunny disgraceful bozo JarJar Binks type fool and don’t even get be started on the designer clown. They were so bad and so over the top it was painfully unbearable to suffer through.
Not sure what the director was thinking but he should find a new line of work.
I expected something better…
The plot for this movie is LAZY. It relies on character changes, non-issues, real-life affairs (Meghan Markle), and scenes from the first movie. The plot was probably decided on after just a few minutes of throwing out ideas…
One of the biggest disappointments in this movie is the copy + paste from the original movie. Cab-stealing, Amber almost killing somebody with an arrow, and sleighing were all reused even if they played no big part to the plot.
They rewrote Simon’s character, the guy who tried to steal the crown in the first place. He was portrayed to be very sketchy in all of this movie, and we were supposed to expect him to be the bad guy once again – except he wasn’t. The bad guy in this movie is a new character who is apparently significant to the Kingdom but unknown to us until halfway in the movie.
My biggest gripe, and I know I’m not alone on this, is the complete re-cast and re-written Rudy character, or Amber’s dad. I am not opposed to actor changes, but the fact that this character is in at least half of the scenes is really disheartening as he is a goofy, stereotypical New Yorker that does not resemble in any way the loving, wisdom-filled father we were given in the first movie.
