Plot: A sea turtle who was hatched in 1959 spends the next 50 years traveling the world while it is being changed by global warming. Born on a Baja, California beach in 1959, new hatchling Sammy must do what his fellow newborn sea turtles are doing: race across the beach to the ocean before they are captured by a seagull or crab. Thus begins Sammy’s incredible fifty-year ocean journey. Along the way he meets his best friend, a fellow turtle named Ray, and overcomes obstacles both natural and man-made while trying to fulfill his dream of travelling around the world. Throughout his voyage, Sammy never forgets about Shelly – the turtle he saved on his first day and loves passionately from afar.

My 5 year old wanted to watch this movie. She spent much of the movie crying. Most kids movies have some type of obstacle for the main character to overcome and then they come out on top. Sammy encounters more obstacles than most. The majority of this movie is just one sad, scary thing happening after another (difficult for some children to deal with). I thought the graphics were great even though I didn’t watch the 3D version. I think the movie was okay, but it dragged quite a bit. It’s not one of those movies that my child will want to watch again and again and again. If you’re looking for a completely light and happy children’s movie to watch you may want to look elsewhere.

Turtle’s Tale is very profitable
My thoughts on a Turtle’s Tale are that a new commercial be released soon for the sake of investors. I think Noggin is offering a good risk to reward opportunity here. The company is producing a ton of cash from existing rights deals and as long as Turtle Tales remains a hit, Noggin will continue to generate good cash flow. This allows for the company to continue to pay down debt as well as to invest in advertising for its newer, less profitable properties. On the other hand, Turtle Tales isn’t really profitable and I don’t.
