In order to put an end to a two decades’ conflict, Gotti pulls together an unlikely crew made up of one member from each crime family to pull off a silver bullion heist. If Gotti can keep these criminal misfits from killing each other and succeed with this problem-riddled heist he will secure himself a spot in mafia history. This gang of misfit gangsters, hijackers and wanna-bees, all in their late 20’s, hang out playing cards at a gambling den known as the “Sinatra Club” owned by Crazy Salvatore Polisi, the narrator of our story. At the time, nobody is getting “made” because all the families are at war. What’s worse, the bosses have no idea who John and his underlings are. Determined to make a name for himself, John masterminds a scheme that will either squash the beef among the five families or get him and his whole crew killed. First he has to get his mentor and idol Charlie Fatico, a powerful captain in the Gambino crime family, to get the go ahead from the big boss Carlo Gambino. With the old man’s blessing, the wheels are set in motion for a heist like no other. The plan is simple: use a guy from each family through the Club, hijack an armored truck loaded with silver bullion, and give each boss a piece of the action. What could be simpler? At the end, every Mafia boss will know who John Gotti is and, more importantly, owe him for helping end the bloodshed while enriching their coffers. He will be in the bigs and finally be a “somebody.” The only problem with this simple plan is that it is anything but simple. As the clock ticks, the crew find more holes in the plan than in the mobsters who are getting whacked all over town. With the bosses of all five families waiting for their piece, the boys are off the poker table and on the street literally playing for their lives!.
Plot: Brutal and celebrated Mafia gangster John Gotti (Danny Nucci) schemes, shoves and murders his way to the top of that world in this gritty biography told from the perspective of Salvatore Polisi (Jason Gedrick), who owns the Sinatra Club, where Gotti’s crew hangs out. Determined to make his name, the young Gotti plans a daring armored-car robbery that he expects to get him noticed by the bosses of each of New York’s five major crime families.

Gotti – The Early Years
SPOILER: Some former kid actors get to star in some real adult gangster roles as the purported story of John Gotti in the years he was making his bones as a criminal in Sinatra Club. Some Sinatra is heard, but not nearly enough for my taste on the soundtrack.

Jason Gedrick narrates and plays Ubatz aka Sal Polisi, really aka Sammy ‘the Bull’ Gravano. Obviously Sammy the Bull who is still with us was not given any rights to use his name so it was changed to protect the very guilty, despite the disclaimer this film proudly sports.

The Sinatra Club is a kind of neutral turf where made members of the various crime families meet and socialize and talk shop. It’s also where they can be reasonably assured that they won’t start whacking each other on premise. Danny Nucci who plays the charismatic young Gotti sees to that.

Nucci as Gotti has the idea to get them all working on a really big heist involving a shipment of silver both in coin and bullion with all the various crews cooperating. The idea is getting a hearing from the bosses as Gotti sells the plan. Of course the inevitable happens as these guys are violent criminals and they’ve got a lot of their own issues, all played out in this film.

It’s neither the best or far from the worst gangster film I’ve seen even if it was made without Sammy the Bull’s consent.

Horrible !
I grew up in that neighborhood and knew most of these guys and grew up with their kids , although I was a generation under them I knew them and saw them most days . Well this movie doesn’t even comer close to catching anything authentic about them or the life . It’s like a bad parody and comedy so many of the slang words the actors pronounced completely wrong like what they are , bad actors with no idea . From the bad acting to the bad wigs and horrible sets and the absolutely fake contrived New York accents it’s just a disgrace . Soooo bad and low budget just terrible !
