Synopsis

Watch: Backcountry 2014 123movies, Full Movie Online – An urban couple go camping in the Canadian wilderness – where unimaginable beauty sits alongside our most primal fears. Alex (Jeff Roop) is a seasoned outdoorsman while Jenn (Missy Peregrym), a corporate lawyer, is not. After much convincing, and against her better judgment, she agrees to let him take her deep into a Provincial Park to one of his favorite spots – the secluded Blackfoot Trail. On their first night, deep in the forest, they have an unsettling encounter with Brad (Eric Balfour), a strange alpha male with eyes for Jenn who may or may not be following them. Alex’s desire to quickly reach Blackfoot Trail only intensifies. They push further and further into the woods, Alex stubbornly insisting that he remembers the way. After three days their path disappears; they are hopelessly lost. Without food or water, they struggle to find their way back, the harsh conditions bringing out the best and worst in them, pushing their already fragile relationship to the breaking point. When they realize they have entered a bear’s territory, being lost suddenly becomes the least of their problems. Terror, horror, will, and survival become paramount..
Plot: A couple on a deep-wilderness hike become hopelessly lost within an aggressive black bear’s territory.

Reviews:

For a movie whose one thing is summed up in the Play School theme, “There’s a bear in there”, there could have been more bear in there. The intial contact with said ursine is magnificent though.

_Final rating:★★½ – Had a lot that appealed to me, didn’t quite work as a whole._

**Under the limit, but acceptable for being honest!**

I watched the entire film without knowing it was based on the real. Only on the later I came to know that and my stance has changed a bit. Because it’s not always about the quality of the product, but something revealing truth is most important to me in films. It was honest and not following the blueprint of a similar kind was the advantage. Obviously it was a small budget B movie with unfamiliar cast.

So while watching it, I thought why they (film characters) not doing like this, that. Because entertainment films should do that for its viewers to please, but its notion was not that. It was depicting the actual event. Well, most of the crucial scene with the beast was just acceptable due to the category of film it belongs. Can’t afford graphics nor trained animal, but I appreciate the effort.

Story wise, it takes time to come to the point. And then everything happens so fast before the end approach. Initially, the narration teases with a different kind of thriller, but after some developments, it accomplishes its mission. Like I said don’t expect something like ‘The Revenant’. This film is not for the recommendation, but trying it out on your own is not a bad idea.

Difficult to watch, its hard being scared when you can’t see anything
The story line is OK, if predictable. The acting is fine, but very stereotyped. A needy/arrogant boyfriend, and a full on alpha male. My main issue is with the direction/ photography? So many dark scenes and absolutely filled with out of focus shots. Perhaps trying to make it claustrophobic? This only succeeded in making my head hurt. Here we are in the midst of the beauty of nature and what can we see? A leaf..! It isn’t that none of these shots wouldn’t be OK, but so many? Constant close ups when we need to see (literally) the bigger picture. This may well have been shot in someone’s back garden at times. I don’t suppose I was expecting much from the film, but I was expecting some beautiful cinematography!

LOT OF SPOILERS! Just another horror film with characters doing stupid stuff to get themselves into trouble.
If the two hikers had been moderately intelligent outside of their occupational task (landscaper and lawyer)this would have been a boring movie. But this movie follows most horror flicks with the traditionally easy ‘most everyone is an idiot’ formula. Why would you take the risk of not taking the free 2oz. map with you? Why would you ever leave your girlfriends cellphone at the car and not even tell her? Yes, it probably wouldn’t have reception but maybe it would? Why would you not check your newly smashed big toe as soon as you injured it? Why would you ever invite a guy into your camp who is one banjo away from deliverance and then let him be the alpha male with your girlfriend? Why would you not heed natures blatant warning of the large bear print? And lets stake our tent at the summit during a thunderstorm why don’t we. Why would you have your axe/weapon 15 feet away when you know a bear is the area? And how easy is it to remember that you have bear spray right next to you and why wouldn’t you unload it as much as you can into the bears face? As soon as she started running from the bear after waiting around and risked getting that diamond ring I knew her head was a rock magnet. And sure enough, boom goes the head. I won’t comment on anything else but it just seems like writers have gotten lazy with horror films. Maybe try having intelligent and experienced characters that do, for the most part, the right thing but because of outside factors they get into a predicament. Could be more believable and you wouldn’t end up hating the characters because of their stupidity.
