Honestly, here’s my thoughts
First off, let it be known that I was never a fan of this actor. The only exposure I’ve had was the one or two times I stumbled upon a Will & Grace episode.

With that being said, I think he did a good job and it was nice to see him step into this genre. He did well, although, the children were not a good match. As one person said, “children just don’t act that way”. I thought there was some provocation of thought. I am the type of movie watcher that likes to figure things out (Usual Suspects…. Awesome!) I don’t think it was a bad movie and felt that it showed he has talent that is versatile and should be utilized in a wider range of films.

Overall, I can see how some watchers might be confused, but I enjoyed the movie, there were some good “jolts” in the movie. A parent, inexperienced, on medication, taking care of sick kids after losing his wife & mother of his children, in a cabin, in a snowstorm. Not the best setting for a Rockwell moment, huh?!

Think it was a good movie. Had the potential to be better but they did good with the budget they had to work with.

Irritating spoilers
Okay, the movie was effective in making me think several things – the house is haunted, daddy killed his wife, the kids are afraid of dad, daddy is crazy, daddy is delusional.

With the flashbacks, I really thought we would see daddy killing mommy and that’s why the kids were acting somewhat unusual when dealing with him (they know).

I also started to believe, there was nothing supernatural happening and he was doing it all (but still killed mommy).

Maybe the kids were stilted when talking to him because they knew daddy wasn’t acting right in the head (he was mixing medication with alcohol.

Bottomline, daddy was having a fever dream.

The only unexplained thing was, what was in that freezer and who pulled back the curtain.

The other mystery was, if daddyy was a doctor, why didn’t he seem to know what to do about anything, including acting quickly with the wife? Maybe he was a psychiatrist, but they are trained medical doctors, too.

Kept my interest, but his completely ineffectual handling of things was irritating me.
