Synopsis

Watch: Conviction 2010 123movies, Full Movie Online – Betty Anne Waters (Swank) is a high school dropout who spent nearly two decades working as a single mother while putting herself through law school, tirelessly trying to beat the system and overturn her brother’s (Rockwell) unjust murder conviction..
Plot: When Betty Anne Waters’ older brother Kenny is arrested for murder and sentenced to life in 1983, Betty Anne, a Massachusetts wife and mother of two, dedicates her life to overturning the murder conviction. Convinced that her brother is innocent, Betty Anne puts herself through high school, college and, finally, law school in an 18 year quest to free Kenny. With the help of best friend Abra Rice, Betty Anne pores through suspicious evidence mounted by small town cop Nancy Taylor, meticulously retracing the steps that led to Kenny’s arrest. Belief in her brother – and her quest for the truth – pushes Betty Anne and her team to uncover the facts and utilize DNA evidence with the hope of exonerating Kenny.

Reviews:

Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell were Excellent… Juliette Lewis is Outstanding in her 10mints Role. Wowww.
CONVICTION – CATCH IT (A-) Conviction is a Heart Hitting True story of a sister fighting for her Brother for 18 years to get Justice. I must say more than movie, the story in itself is simply heart wrenching so, I really applaud for the director, producers for choosing such an incredible true story to be told on screen. The only flaw in the movie was its length and sometimes I found the editing of flashbacks little irritating. The performances in the movie are truly incredible and every time I saw Hilary Swank and Sam Rockwell, it brought tears in my eyes. The chemistry between these two actors is amazingly genuine and real. Even the young Brother and Sister played by Bailee Madison and Tobias Campbell had an awesome chemistry and it made the whole movie very relatable. Melissa Leo, Minnie Driver and Elle Bardha did a respectable job. One of the shocking performances in the movie is indeed from Juliet Lewis, who was outstanding in her 10mintutes role. My jaws were literally dropped to see her in middle aged role. You have to see to believe how good she was, I won’t be shock if she gets an Oscar Nod for that. Overall, it’s an inspiring tale of how far a Sister can go for her Brother, to get Justice. Truly Inspiring.

Loyalties
Kenny and Betty Ann Waters are siblings that have seen a lot in their young lives. Brother and sister have experienced poverty, but they have clung to each other in a bond that no one will be able to break. Kenny shows signs he can be dangerous when he drinks, something we become aware at the angry confrontation between and another man at a bar where he has been partying with Betty Ann.

When a heinous crime in the area is committed, circumstantial evidence ties Kenny to the crime. Betty Ann knows her brother did not have anything to do with the murder, but the dogged investigation by a police woman points that Kenny did it. Complicating things, when the case goes to trial, his former wife, Roseanna, proves to be convincing enough in her testimony against her former husband.

Betty Ann Waters, who never believes Kenny committed the crime, realizes she must take action and become more involved if she wants to get Kenny out of jail. With the help of another law student, Abra Rice, she becomes a lawyer against all odds. Reopening the case, she finds an ally in Barry Scheck, the notorious lawyer that figured prominently in the O.J. Simpson’s process. Her perseverance pays off when the hard nosed police woman, Nancy Taylor, is confronted and the evidence is reexamined. Winning her brother’s freedom was a crusade well worth her efforts because she proved her love to an innocent man that did not deserve the raw deal he got.

Directed by Tony Goldwyn, based on the true story of Kenny Waters, this film is inspirational because it shows how even situations that feel hopeless are not always lost. The screenplay by Pamela Gray delves into the situation as no doubt it really happened. A courageous woman is at the center of this story that says a lot about a justice system that can be twisted by a rotten person, Nancy Taylor, who is never ashamed for what her actions did to a man that did not deserved what he got.

The casting of Hillary Swank as Betty Anne was a plus for the creators of the film. Ms. Swank is always convincing, as she is in this movie. It is easy to believe her as the lady that never gave up to save her brother. Sam Rockwell has some good moments as Kenny. He goes from violence to despair having to prove his innocent. Minnie Driver, Peter Gallagher, Juliette Lewis, Clea DuVall, Loren Dean and the wonderful Melissa Leo, are seen in the vast supporting cast.

To his credit, Tony Goldwyn keeps things under a tight control with this satisfying look at how justice works.
