Actually not too bad
My daughter has constantly got the Disney channel on at home, so I’m treated with re-runs of the same old thing, even the movies are constantly on and I can get very fed up with it. So this movie was advertised to the hilt since the premier of Teen Beach 2, which was not as good as the first I might add. So after months of the advertising of the Descendants, I was fearing the worst. As much as I can’t stand Cameron Boyce, I do like Dove Cameron from Liv and Maddie, which is the only show I can bear on Disney Channel.
After watching this movie, I was quite surprised, also I quite enjoyed it, Dove was brilliant as the daughter of Malificent, and Evie, was quite funny too. OK, the 2 boy villains were OK too. But the idea and story were actually pretty good, and some of the characters were quite fun to watch.
Also the parents of the villains were fun to watch, some of the things they say are quite amusing.
As far as Disney straight to TV movies go, I’d give it a go, of course, after months of repeating the film, you’ll get fed up with it.
Overall watchable once or maybe 2 days later, twice, then you’ll have had enough.
My guilt pleasure of 2015
I got this on DVD recently as I don’t have the Disney Channel anymore and I heard talks about this film for a very long time.
Basically the film is about the four main villains from previous Disney movies Maleficent from Sleeping Beauty(Kristen Chenoworth)who’s daughter is Mal(Dove Cameron from Liv & Maddie),Jafar from Aladdin and he has a son(played by BooBoo Stewart from Twilight and X Men Days Of Future Past),Cruella De Vil from 101 Dalmatians who had a son(played by Jessie’s Cameron Boyce)and finally the wicked queen from Snow White(a unrecognisable Katy Najimy)who has a daughter(played by newcomer Sofia Carson). So the 4 kids decide to go to school in Auroan which is ruled by Belle and her husband(who is known as the Beast even though his not a Beast anymore)and the kids try and steal the fairy godmother from Cinderella’s story. But things get a bit complicated as Mal falls in love with Ben who is Belle and Beast’s son. So will the 4 kids ever learn to be good and not follow their parent’s footsteps.
Now here is a few things I liked about this film. The visuals were good and the rest of the film is pretty decent. The music is a bit meh for me and there was A lot of flaws I noticed.
1. Cruella De Vil isn’t black she’s white. 2. Auroua isn’t dark she is fair haired and fair skinned. 3. Where was Ariel,Rapunzel,Jasmine,to name a few’s kids I was expecting them to show up but they didn’t. 4. I couldn’t stand Kristen Chenoweth’s voice it just irks me out. I prefer Angelina Jolie as Maleficent all the way than Chenoweth’s portrayal. 5. Songs are very auto tune.
But still though I consider this a new guilt pleasure next to High School Musical 3: Senior Year. And yes folks the guy that directed this film is also the same man that brought us High School Musical trilogy and of course Hocus Pocas.
Overall I enjoyed it for what it was and I found it to be a decent film.
