Awful.
Having enjoyed “Tommy Boy” and “The Emperor’s New Groove”, I thought maybe David Spade could lead a film. I tried watching it yesterday. Made it to the end, but I barely laughed at all. And every laugh had to do something with a former child star, not David Spade. He’s at his best when being obnoxious and sarcastic. Sadly, he tries too hard to be funny. His physical comedy leaves much to be desired, and quite frankly, he’s a lot more funnier when he doesn’t try to. He makes (during the first minutes) and breaks (during the rest of it) the movie. Maybe he should concentrate on doing vocal work for cartoons (he excels there), and forget about being a leading man. Or find someone like Chris Farley, and play an obnoxious, serious, sarcastic sidekick and forget about trying to be funny.
