Don’t bother.
This movie is boring as hell. No soundtrack. Just plain dull. Had to turn it off after 15 minutes. It has no redeeming qualities. An amateur attempt at film making. The story is predictably thin and the jokes suitably unsophisticated. Falls down is in its flippant approach to an idea that doesn’t have any traction beyond a TV skit. This fitfully plain but mostly dull misfire defines exactly where the line can be drawn between truly subversive humor and lazy cynicism. For a one joke movie Dry Spell pays a lot of attention to details.Lift the bonnet, unfortunately, and this movie’s engine is too sputtering and feeble to get it anywhere.

Sasha (Suzi Lorraine) and Kyle (Kyle Hoskins- co-writer) are getting a divorce, but are still good friends. Sasha is now living with Lacy (Amanda-Elizabeth Sawyer) who is Kyle’s sister. Kyle is living with a Trey (Travis Legge -co-writer, director) who is a stoner. Lacy has the best lines and is the closet thing to our voice of reason. She is also promiscuous.Sasha attempts to have sex with Scott (Steven Lee Edwards) but can’t as “Dry Spell” takes on a different meaning as she proclaims, “This really isn’t working” explaining that her Ho-ha isn’t ho-ing, not even when she works the mouse. She feels guilty that Kyle hasn’t “moved on” and is having sex. She sets him up on an Internet dating site and chooses the worse possible candidates for him as a date, which became that main highlight of this quirky comedy.
The film is low budget. The restaurant and night club scenes all had the same identical wood paneling background, with limited extras. The writing was good as was the acting, although Kyle came off as stiff, apparently by design. The lines were humorous, but not a belly laugh. For instance Trey remarks on his near ex-wife setting Kyle up: “Her friends look like something out of “Dark Crystal.” Okay I had to smile. Some of the humor was sexual in nature, talking about various processes and kinks.
Makes for a decent low budget indie viewing.
