“Family For Christmas” is about a woman named Hannah Dunbar who heads to San Fransisco for what was supposed to be a six month internship at the Channel 8 news station. However, ten years later she’s still working there now as a lead reporter. As Christmas roles around she gets her wish of a promotion to NY. But before she can get there she “wishes” her way into an alternate reality where she lives the life she would’ve lived had she not gone for that internship.

First movie of the year and it’s a Hallmark movie. Watched it on Prime with my mom. She loved the film as it spoke to her about current circumstances in her life. For me it was mediocre as most Hallmark films are.

The film is only 82 minutes long, but everything went along too quickly. We’re barely introduced to the characters and there was no true building of their personalities. At this point I don’t care who they are. The actors weren’t at all convincing in their roles. It felt like they brought no heart and therefore I felt no emotional attachment to the film.

The only good parts of the film were the themes and the music. Often in life we either regret choices we did or didn’t make, or we appreciate them. The films themes taught is that we can’t change the past, but we surely can change the future. For the music side, while it wasn’t anything special, it fit well for what was happening. It set the mood for what Christmas spirit was to be actually had.

Overall, a poor Hallmark movie that I wouldn’t recommend, but if you choose to watch it…. I hope you enjoy the show!

Hallmark Continues to Pander to Stay-at-Home Moms
Another Hallmark film pandering to women who stay-at-home, have children, and forgo a career.

This leading lady realizes a life of car pooling & baking cookies is better than her high profile, profitable career in the big city. It’s the sleek metropolitan life versus quaint suburbia once again, as Hallmark regurgitates it’s sexist ideas in Christmas colors.

Why not make a movie where a woman is changing diapers, arguing with kids about video games, and grounding her teenager from using the car and then she wishes away her family and children? Lest we forget that a woman can never live a life of peace and fulfillment without a husband and kids, right Hallmark?

This poor female lead was separating the flakes and raisins out of her two daughter’s cereal bowls each morning and everyone in the family, including the husband, expected her to do it and acted like it was normal….and THAT was the preferred life for her!

Very disappointing.
