Ah, rural life. Despite being picked on while in school, Ross insists on staying in his rural area, and making himself visible with his pink hair and painted fingernails. His only ally is his sister, until he gets Evan as his assistant at his self-directed job. The two young men bond over the job, including Evan fixing Ross’s radio, but things come to head with the local toughs.

The storyline runs slow. It is well past the 1/2-way point before Ross opens up to Evan (and the audience). Straight-acting Evan has a hint of being about to opening up on his own, but that never happened. There are various scenes without dialog where entire songs play, maybe intended to set the mood, but just feels like padding to me. Watching this digitally at home, there were times I felt like just turning off the movie and doing something else.
