Synopsis

Watch: Liberty Stands Still 2002 123movies, Full Movie Online – A gunman ties up an actor and locks him in his dressing room just before a performance. He also puts a bomb with a 90-minute timer next to the actor. Then, he goes to a room above an LA plaza and draws a bead on the actor’s lover, international arms dealer, Liberty Wallace. Calling himself “Joe,” he calls her cell phone, demonstrates that a rifle is pointed at her, and tells her to cuff herself to a hot-dog cart nearby (the cuffs are there). Over the next 90 minutes, the story unfolds: as a result of his daughter’s death, he wants a public debate on the Second Amendment. As Liberty begins to bond with Joe on the phone, he gets some truths from her – and his revenge..
Plot: As the heir and current marketing director for one of the nation’s biggest gun manufacturers, Liberty Wallace is indifferent to the atrocities made possible through her business and her CEO husband, Victor. On her way to see her actor lover, Liberty ends up chained to a food cart full of explosives — all at the insistence of “Joe”, a sniper whose young daughter was a victim of gun violence, and who now has Liberty in his sights.

From a sniper’s perch to a hot dog stand…
Why is it that all the trouble these days start when you answer you phone/cell phone?

From the moment Snipes dials in Fiorentino’s cell phone, all the suspense begins. She starts by being the one who’s in control, but it’s obvious she’s not. Shackling herself to a hot dog stand was bad enough with a sniper trained on you, but there’s also a little surprise for all those involved in her life.

Snipes plays the sniper well. As one who can turn the tables on anyone, he pulls it off superbly. Fiorentino was all right, but I found myself more attached to Snipes, trying to find out why he was doing what he was doing. But the bottom line was if she didn’t play his game, she wasn’t going to live.

This is the first I’ve even heard of this movie. I like Snipes and I watched “Phone Booth” just a couple of months ago. I know it’s not right to compare the two, but I can’t help but draw on the similarities between the two. Kiefer Sutherland was a psycho, too, but he tended to lose his cool once in a while, where Snipes did not. Not only was he in control of the situation, but he was in control of himself, as well. It kind of makes you believe that he could actually pull off what he meant to do.

I don’t know, but, for some reason, I didn’t find this film very “suspenseful” at all. When I watch these kinds of movies, I find myself sitting on the edge of my seat, holding my breath, but not this time. I found the movie almost like a soap opera, where I could have stepped out of the room for a couple of minutes, came back, and caught right up with where I was at, knowing everything I missed.

I hate fake reviews
You can always tell who gives fake reviews around here. First, look at the reviewer’s location. For some reason fake reviewers love to place themselves somewhere in California. Secondly, if it sounds like a commercial for the film, it probably is. Thirdly, click on the reviewer’s name and see if they have actually reviewed anything else. If they have not, it is likely that they just registered to give props to one of their buds. So, just letting you know that you can go ahead and disregard the reviews by laresistenz and rapierdagger. Now, on to the film: The film did have some funny moments toward the beginning. I loved it when Liberty gets naked to draw attention to herself, but when the cop asks her why, she says “it’s hot.” There was another funny moment too but I can’t remember what it was. However, the director created this film to make us think, and in that, it failed miserably. I would love to go back to medieval times and see a farm cart with a bumper sticker on it that says, “Swords don’t kill people, people kill people”. In fact, if you are in favor of gun control, this movie will probably do more to swing you against it. Why is this? Well, hello, screenwriter: Most people do not want to associate themselves politically with complete lunatics with guns! Therefore, the very premise of the movie-, which is vehemently anti-gun, actually succeeds in doing the opposite of what it intended. In other words, I ended up feeling sorry for the gun company lady and can’t stand Joe/Alex, the crazy gun-hating guy. The film did have a lot of dialogue, which is refreshing if you are into that sort of thing, and I really like Fiorentino. Other than that, though, the political message is so dully and unintelligently delivered that it doesn’t go beyond a high school class discussion, so therefore could only provoke intelligent debate with the equivalent of high-schoolers. Not thought provoking at all, at least concerning gun control. However, you will do a lot of thinking as to whether or not all the director’s movies are so politically slanted, and if they are, you have to wonder how long they are going to survive in the entertainment industry.
