Watch: Mrs. Henderson Presents 2005 123movies, Full Movie Online – Recently widowed well-to-do Mrs. Laura Henderson (Dame Judi Dench) is at a bit of a loose end in inter-war London. On a whim, she buys the derelict Windmill theatre in the West End and persuades impresario Vivian Van Damm (Bob Hoskins) to run it, despite the fact the two don’t seem to get along at all. Although their idea of a non-stop revue is at first a success, other theatres copy it and disaster looms. Laura suggests they put nudes in the show, but Van Damm points out that the Lord Chamberlain, Lord Rowland Baring, 2nd Earl of Cromer (Christopher Guest), who licenses live shows in Britain, is likely to have something to say about this. Luckily, Mrs. Henderson is friends with him..
Plot: Eccentric 70-year-old widow purchases the Windmill Theatre in London as a post-widowhood hobby. After starting an innovative continuous variety review, which is copied by other theaters, they begin to lose money. Mrs Henderson suggests they add female nudity similar to the Moulin Rouge in Paris.

A feel good experience
This little gem was given a bad review by a local newspaper critic and I couldn’t disagree more!! I loved it. Judy Dench (the wonderful) and Bob Hoskins are fabulous in their roles and I loved the flirtatious undercurrents. This film made me laugh and cry …. I left the theatre feeling lovely … what more could you ask for in a movie?? The history of the Windmill Theatre and the (ludicrious) laws allowing the nudes on stage was very interesting. I think Will Young did very well in his first movie, I am an oldie who enjoys his singing. All in all a great movie, Judy Dench fans wont be disappointed, and I hope some younger movie goers give it a go as its well worth the viewing.

flat story not that funny
It’s 1937 England. Mrs. Laura Henderson (Judi Dench) loses her high-powered husband Robert. She buys a theater naming it Windmill Theater inspired by Moulin Rouge in Paris. She hires producer Vivian Van Damm (Bob Hoskins). They start a variety revue which is successful at first. When it starts to slow, Mrs. Henderson suggests naked ladies. She is able to get her friend the Lord Chamberlain to approve as long as no one moves. Vivian finds Maureen (Kelly Reilly) caught out in the rain and hires her as one of the girls. The show keeps going even during the blitz.

It’s a very flat story despite all the interesting story points. I put it down to the fact that the Henderson character has no drama. She doesn’t need the success or the money. She has no foil except maybe Vivian sometimes. The nude shows are as much fun as one expects from naked women in poses. The humor is very British and isn’t that big. The girls’ stories don’t add that much to the comedy other than demanding the men to get naked. It’s not nearly funny or dramatic enough.
