Plot: The Griswalds win a vacation to Europe on a game show, and so pack their bags for the continent. They do their best to catch the flavor of Europe, but they just don’t know how to be be good tourists. Besides, they have trouble taking holidays in countries where they CAN speak the language.

Loved It
I like all National Lampoon movies with Chase. This one is no different. It’s really a fun ride through Europe, with all the things you’d expect. It’s a family story at its core, with the main guy leading his family on excursions. The wife is such a hottie. It’s a great time in Europe, though not the best. Has it’s boring parts.

Enjoyable and funny sequel…
The 1985 comedy “National Lampoon’s European Vacation” is definitely something you can watch again and again. But then again, so are most of the “Vacation” movies, especially the ones that stars Chevy Chase and Beverly D’Angelo.

The storyline told in “National Lampoon’s European Vacation”, as written by John Hughes and Robert Klane, is a good sequel to the 1983 “National Lampoon’s Vacation” movie. And it is great fun to watch the Griswold family make their way across England, France, Germany and Italy as the movie progress. And of course, with the Griswolds, you know you’re in for a good time with lots of laughs.

There are lots of funny situations and good laughs throughout the 95 minutes that “National Lampoon’s European Vacation” run for. So the writers did put together a wholesome and entertaining storyline here.

It is nice to see Chevy Chase (playing Clark), Beverly D’Angelo (playing Ellen), Dana Hill (playing Audrey) and Jason Lively (playing Rusty) on the screen as the members of the Griswold family. But “National Lampoon’s European Vacation” also have other great talents on the cast list, with the likes of John Astin, William Zabka, Mel Smith and even Eric Idle.

If you enjoy the comedy of the 1980s, then “National Lampoon’s Vacation” is a movie that you should watch, if you haven’t already. In fact, the entire “Vacation” movie series is well-worth watching.

My rating of “National Lampoon’s Vacation” lands on a six out of ten stars.
