An impressive horror thriller debut for McRae
The superb acting, sound mixing, writing, and cinematography in this film create an incredibly compelling story that will twist your emotions and definitely hit the spot for a Halloween season movie night or for horror genre fans any day of the week. Somewhat more cerebral that your average slasher, Kristoffer McMillan drivers a captivating performance navigating his mental torment after a personal tragedy, which develops into some pretty scary stuff- I’m not a huge gore fan and there are some fairly violent moments which while tactfully filmed and presented still may be over the top for some viewers. I think it is fundamental to the story arc, and will be welcomed by other horror genre fans who may be wishing for that ‘close your eyes’ moment. To me, the entire film is an expression of escaping the clutches of grief and guilt, and the production team put together a gripping film to definitely keep you on the edge of your seat and emotionally invested.
