Plot: Mykola is an eccentric pacifist who wants to be useful to humanity. When the war begins at Donbass, Mykola’s naive world is collapsing as the militants kill his pregnant wife and burn his home to the ground. Recovered, he makes a cardinal decision and gets enlisted in a sniper company. Having met his wife’s killers, he emotionally breaks down and arranges “sniper terror” for the enemy. He’s saved from a senseless death by his instructor who himself gets mortally wounded. The death of a friend leaves a “scar” and Mykola is ready to sacrifice his life.

Whose truth……?
For me its impossible to view this simply as a military action film.

On the upside its well acted, the scenes of conflict are convincingly done and it has decent production values.

Then there is the BUT…..whose truth do we believe? In my opinion, this film is pursuing a pro Ukrainian, Western backed perspective, on the Russian Ukrainian conflict. A position that overlooks a lot of opposing truth, from the separatist republics and Russian side.

Watch if you wish but keep in mind there are two sides to any argument.

Intense war drama based on real everyday life.
Very honest depiction of what Ukrainians have to go through. On how much ruthless and brutal Russians are. Amazingly directed, shot and acted out. Depicts real Ukraine and everyday struggles of it’s citizens.
