Low Budget = No Room for “Stacy’s Mom”
Four middle schoolers obsess and try to win over their neighbor Stacy’s mom. If you’ve heard the song, which you probably would have or else you wouldn’t have come across this movie, the movie features scenes that follow the lyrics of the songs. Like, in one scene the boys hang out with Stacy and her mom in the pool in their backyard. Another instance, one of the boys is mowing Stacy’s lawn and then her mom comes outside with a towel on and tells him that he missed a certain spot. There was a funny part of the flick making fun of what happens to your voice during puberty. The saddest part is that the budget wasn’t large enough to get the rights to use the song… or they didn’t even try. I don’t know. I hope they tried if they could. I believe I saw in the credits that the same band made all the songs throughout the whole movie. I was hoping when I first started watching this movie that they would play “Stacy’s Mom” right when they actually showed Stacy’s mom. Her entrance wasn’t that great either. We saw her from far away FIRST and THEN we did a bottom to top scan. I felt it should have been switched.
