The case turns into a life altering chase for Inspector Shekhawat when he is forced to reel under the repercussions of a broken married life with his wife Roshni played by Rani Mukherji and come face to face with his suppressed grief. Being on his investigational quest and fighting it out with personal struggle, Inspector Shekhawat meets a sex worker Rosie played by Kareena Kapoor who further adds shades of mystery to the puzzle. What looks like a simple car accident investigation turns into a haunting mystery as further investigations show many anomalies stringed to the death of the victim..
Plot: A cop, investigating the mysterious death of a filmstar, meets a sex-worker, while he faces some personal problems psychologically. The mystery connects these people in a way, that ultimately changes their lives.

Talaash is definitely good but not awesome..
Believe it or not there have been many movies of Suspense genre in last few years which are better or at least equal to it; to quote a few of them are- HIDE AND SEEK, 404- error not found, KAHAANI and many more! But all of them lack in the star power of Aamir Khan and that’s the reason that most of them did not caught the attention of Masses!

Talaash is a different style mystery which unfolds well in a decent way, with a gripping story and brilliant performances! Everyone delivers his best here, from Aamir to Kareena to Rani and even the supporting cast! Story is fresh, smart and keeps you hooked up till the end! Kagati’s Direction is good too! Music is decent, melodious and suits the mood of the movie; and appears to be an integral part of it! Everything else from setting to cinematography is fine!

But inspite of all these the movie definitely does not live upto the expectations and hype created ! It shows that still we have miles to go!

As the Aamir requested not to reveal the suspense and it’s very essential for any mystery movie (Remember the end of the movie “DHUND” which states- “This is the end but please do not tell anybody!”). So I will not talk about it, however I would quote a statement of KAREENA given in an interview that:- “TALAASH MINUS KAREENA IS NOTHING …..!!!”

Finally I would like to say that Talaash does pass the litmus test but Not With Distinction, It is definitely Good but not awesome!!! RATING- 7/10 !

Brilliant movie ruined by a run of the mill ending
A film star dies when his car falls into the sea. There are mysterious circumstances surrounding the accident. Inspector Shekhawat(Aamir Khan) is the investigating officer. He has his own ghosts to exorcise as had lost a son to drowning. He blames this to his callousness and is unable to sleep at nights. He is moving away from his wife(Rani Mukerji). He barely talks to or becomes intimate with her. One such night while trying to find the clues for the case, he meets a prostitute(Kareena Kapoor) who unexpectedly begins helping him with what is proving to be a baffling case. His lonely wife has come in contact with a lady who claims to talk to their long dead child. The acting by the leads is top notch which is to be expected. Amir Khan, as the still grieving father and the sometimes angry and always efficient policeman, is fantastic. Rani does justice to her small role. But for me, Kareena was the star. She acted brilliantly in her important role and looked breathtakingly beautiful. Nawazuddin Sidiquuii as a paralyzed man who plans on getting rich by blackmailing is astonishingly good. The story is quite good in the first half. After a good buildup, it fizzles out completely by a run of the mill ending which is sure to draw boos from the crowd. But I loved the direction which tries to capture the mood of the underbelly of Mumbai, the background score and the songs and the performance. 3.5 out of 5.
