The Princess, the Maid, and the Talking Horse
The favorite fairy tale of Giselle is the story of an ambitious maid who switches places with the princess. But terrible things then happen to the “maid” while the impersonator of the “princess” is never comfortable in her new and coveted role. There is also a figure of a talking horse that figures prominently in the tale.

It will be up to the viewer to unpack the allegory of this fairy tale to the soap opera like story of the film’s protagonist, Samantha “Sam” Connelly, an attorney with the law firm representing former wide receiver Jaden Turk. Sam feels buried in the firm of “law jocks” and seeks to personally represent Jaden in his divorce case.

Into Sam’s life comes the dynamic Gisele, who motivates Sam to excel in every phase of her life. A new Sam begins to emerge before everything crashes around her. What was Gisele’s role in Sam’s transformation, and did Gisele cross the line?

Another interesting character is Kiki, Sam’s assistant at the law firm. Kiki is very possessive of her “Sammy,” but what is Kiki’s real role in Sam’s extra curricular activities? Ultimately, one character is a princess, one is a maid, and one is a talking horse.

The filmmakers keep the viewer guessing about the true nature of the character interactions. There was great chemistry between Sam and Gisele and a probing examination of the boundaries of friendship. But which character is telling the “deadliest lie” of the film’s title?
