Because of James’s best-seller, Lara’s agent, Steve, checks out the little known Hegg Island in Scotland as the site for their next attempted wedding. Unfortunately, James is a hack, and his book (supposedly based on Hegg) relays little of it accurately. Katie, an island native and the only unmarried woman on it, has been unlucky in love. She’s working on writing her own guide to Hegg Island when Steve and crew arrive, eventually hiring her as a reluctant decoy bride to distract the paparazzi. In a mix-up, she and James end up married to each other while Lara, having spotted the press, goes into hiding. Katie and James now have to get an island divorce while avoiding the press while other parties seek out Lara (who has disguised herself as one of the elderly islanders).
Plot: A local woman is hired to draw paparazzi away from a Hollywood actress who has come to Scotland to get married.

It’s a cute film…
However, something was missing.

And I just love romantic comedies!

I might be wrong, but I think what was lacking was genuine emotion, and chemistry between the couples who were supposed to end up together – it is clear from the start who will end up with whom, but I just couldn’t really feel it between them. It felt a bit fake and forced upon them.

Overall, it is a cute little film, relaxing and in the end, it makes you feel good.

I definitely encourage you to give it a chance, it is a good pastime for a lazy evening. 🙂

Underrated
This movie is a movie that I can watch again and again and not get tired. It’s actually comforting. The story isn’t intense and it’s kind of like drinking hot tea on a blustery day. It’s funny and charming.

It’s got no fancy bells and whistles like great acts of love and stuff. There’s just something different about this film that makes it so lovable for me. It’s not overly lewd (some mentions of sex), but it’s more focused on Katie and James’s budding relationship.

How can one not dream of meeting someone when you least expect it?

It’s got a lovely cast and scenery, and a storyline that sweet and funny.
