Exquisite performances from two all-time greats: Ian McKellen and Helen Mirren. They carry the whole film on their shoulders, and it’s mostly due to their extremely captivating displays that I genuinely enjoyed this movie. Unfortunately, its screenplay lacks believability and some creativity since the key components of the story are predictable from the get-go.

Great performances from both McKellan and Mirren which isn’t surprising, but the final act with the reveal of the twist might’ve been unpredictable, but I like my mystery-thrillers to throw in some clues leading up to it, which this one was out of left field. For the performances might be worth checking out, but the plot almost undid all that was working up until the reveal. **2.75/5**

A stellar cast holds a sub par plot
It’s not an overly bad film by any sense of the word, I actually enjoyed it a fair bit hence the 7 but I will echo that it was a fairly predictable job but the outstanding cast definitely carried it, I’d recommend it if your on the unlimited cinema deal or when it arrives to one of the multiple streaming services, good twist at the end

Unpredictable but not in a good way
The film is pretty decent overall and I certainly wasn’t bored at any point whilst watching it, however it kind of falls apart at the end. That’s due to the events that occur towards the very end of the movie which are totally unpredictable. Often times it’s great to be surprised but sometimes the surprise can be a let down as is the case with this film. As I was watching the twist unfold I was totally dumbfounded because nothing prepares you for it and there’s absolutely no way anyone could predict that would happen. It’s definitely not one of those movies in which you can piece together how it will end so don’t even try. I went along with the twist as it happened but the more I though about it I simply did not like it and found it to be dumb and utterly unbelievable. The movie already had a lot of moments up until that point that asked me to suspend my disbelief but that was simply too much. However, overall I still enjoyed the movie but had it ended differently without the surprise I probably would’ve ended up giving it a 7.
