Bloody Good Film
Liked this film watched on Amazon Prime Video , said it was in the time of Vikings but it had Scythians in it witch would place this at least 300 BC. This separated these peoples by about 1000 years … well that’s ok it is about a tribe trying to rid themselves of the nomadic bandit ways of the Scythians …it is well acted directed and fight scenes are superb .

Would have given it an 8 but the subbed English made it lesser for me.

This is a Russian film that takes place about 1100AD in Tmutarakan, located between the Black and Caspian Seas, along the Silk Road. There is a remnant band of Scythians, a very pagan group of mercenaries who worship Ares. The film centers on Lutobar (Aleksey Faddeev) who is the title character. He is a loyal follower of his Lord who is at odds with the Scythians. Lutobar is forced to recuse his kidnapped family, having to undergo many fights and forming an unusual alliance with Marten….seriously, his name is Marten.

On the surface, the film is just another mindless Conan antics. In the end, we discover betrayal that makes it more akin to a Shakespearean play, minus the clever dialogue.

Guide: No swearing. Brief partial nudity. English dubbed and subtitled.
