Certainly a disappointing outcome given the opportunity
“The Olympic Ticket Scalper” is a 3.5-minute live action short film from 2012, so this one has its 5th anniversary this year and you could call it Funnyordie’s official contribution to the Olympic Games that took place in London that year. The film unites three of England most known’s film actors of their respective age groups, namely Patrick Stewart (playing the title character, Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and Simon Pegg (Shaun of the Dead). This is quite special, even for FoD, who frequently have big names in their very short films. The title already gives away that Stewart plays a guy in here who has its very own way of getting (rid of) Olympic tickets in the streets. For me the most positive aspect here was probably Maisie Williams holding her own pretty well next to the screen legend that Stewart is. She was probably even better than Pegg. And she was certainly better than Lochte, who really should not act ever in another movie again. Couldn’t they have gotten some high-profile British athlete perhaps? It was kinda cringeworthy to watch Lochte. Anyway, the attempt at comedy stays an attempt here for the most part. I think only huge fans of the actors should watch this one and even then they may be disappointed as myself quite like Stewart and Williams as well. The writing by prolific Funnyordie authors and directors Corirossi and Ingram simply wasn’t good enough. Taking part is everything for these 200 seconds. No shot at a medal.
