Enjoyable
I am a big fan of Tom and Jerry from my childhood. This movie is certainly not a continuation of the short cartoons for different reasons pointed out by many people here (such as Tom and Jerry talking, their unusual attitude towards each other which arguably lacks the original essence etc…) but it is a very good cartoon itself standing alone. I do not see any reason for being so harsh. As a personal insight I am musician and composer myself and enjoyed the musical scores except that I do not like the Tom and Jerry cartoon to be a musical cartoon, apparently this movie cartoon was intended to be a musical context at times. The original short versions of T and J is obviously something original and different and I do not think that this movie was meant to be a continuation. In short, don’t be so harsh, get over it and take it easy.
