Another remake hits the screen…
… and this time it’s a good one!

I am not a fan of the original version of this movie, so I wasn’t expecting much of anything from this film as I don’t really think much of Jude Law either.

It was nice to be pleasantly surprised. Jude Law portrayed Alfie – the selfish, womanising, obnoxious limo driver – and we saw how he went thru a life changing experience and became a better, if single, man in the end.

All of the actors in this film did an excellent job and the director was fantastic, considering how irritating it generally is to have a lead character talking directly to camera in a movie. Somehow, Jude Law managed to be obnoxious in his role, and endearing at the same time – no mean feat really.

There could even be a nomination in this movie for Jude, as it is a unique style of movie making where we are only ever in the head of the main character and never see anything from the point of view of any other character – you have to be a good actor to carry an entire movie by yourself in this way.

This movie is well worth seeing and does not have the classic Hollywood style happy ending either – thank God – if it had, it would have ruined the entire thing.
