Expectations
If you are walking into this film expecting a large shootout like you would see in a John Wayne or Clint Eastwood film, you will have to turn this off because reality is not with you. I watched the first three minutes of this movie and damn near turned it off, I’m glad I continued watching it. It’s a low-budget film and you have to treat it like a low budget film. The acting is suspect and the costume design is absolutely poor when it comes to the North and South battle in the beginning of the movie. They were entirely to clean and not realistic. Regular showers and general cleanliness did not exist in the war years. The messages are very good, they touch on many of the sentiments of the era, the dialogues are good. Some of the scenes are a bit drawn out, but that’s because of funding, the scenic Aesthetics are fantastic and they set this movie in the very appropriate places.

Absolutely loved it!
It’s everything you want in a Western (except maybe Clint Eastwoood or more horse work). The pace is spot on, the performances are superb, and there are lots of interesting characters to discover along the way. Terrific indie.
