Like a copy of a copy of a copy of the original
As you’ve probably heard, this is more or less the original movie done again. However, it’s a pretty hollow sequel. Sure, there’s lots of blood and gore, but it has even less of a plot than the original. The little plot there is has a lot of plot holes; just *how*, for example, did a lousy TV broadcast start the phenomenon? And what happened to that subplot about the youths in the car, and the guy waiting outside for them?

But what’s worse is the extreme stupidity of the characters. Now, this isn’t supposed to be an intelligent exercise – it’s a splatterfest. But when you have characters CONSTANTLY making the most unbelievable decisions, it’s hard to give a hoot about them – or for the entire movie, for that matter. I could give you examples of this stupidity, but it’s late and I’m tired. Besides, I don’t think it’s worth spending any more brainpower on this brainless mess.

1/2 the metal, 1/2 the gore, 2 times the cheez!
Certain films I love while having no explanation as to why….”DEMONS 2″ is one of these films. Simply the exact same film as its predeccessor, only set in a high tech apartment building, it lacks a lot of the stuff that makes the first film great. There’s no heavy metal on the soundtrack, very little blood, it’s not nearly as scary or action-packed as the original, but it certainly makes me laugh. The early stuff with the group investigating the ruins of the city is pretty creepy but this all gives way to some hilarious dialogue, and a classic bout between demons and fitness buffs in the building’s parking garage makes me smile every time. Though not nearly as bad as many people say it is, I guess “Demons 2” is enjoyable for mostly the wrong reasons.
